What We Believe

  1. We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21), without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will and the salvation of men. The Bible is the divine and final authority for all aspects of church life.
  2. We believe in one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), Creator of all things (Genesis 1, Psalm 136:5-9), infinitely perfect, sovereign, all knowing (Proverbs 15:3, Hebrews 4:13) and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 21:33, Psalm 90:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Matthew 28:19).
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man (John 10:30, 20:28, Luke 2:52, Hebrews 2:14-18, Philippians 2:6-8), having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of Mary, a virgin (Luke 1:35 Matthew 1:20,23). He died on the cross, the only effective and acceptable sacrifice for our sins, according to the Scriptures (1 Timothy 2:5-6, Matthew. 20:28, Ephesians 1:7, 1 John 2:2, Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 1:10-11). Further, He rose bodily from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:4, Acts 2:24), ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9), where, at the right hand of the Father, He is our High Priest and Advocate (1 John 2:1, Acts 7:56, Hebrews 4:14-16, 7:23-25).
  4. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict individuals of sin, to regenerate the believing sinner, to indwell, to guide, to instruct, and to empower the believer for godly living and service (John 14:16-17, 26, 15:26, 16:8, 13-14, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:4, 6:19-20, 12:4-11, 1 Thessalonians 1:5-7, Galatians 5:16, 22-23). The Spirit is the seal of our salvation, the future guarantee that God will keep His promises (Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30.
  5. We believe that man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7). Through Adam’s disobedience sin entered the world and corrupted everyone (Genesis 3, Romans 3:23, 5:12, 19). We are therefore separated from fellowship with God. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained (Romans 8:9-11, 2 Corinthians 5:17-19).
  6. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe (1 Timothy 2:5-6, Ephesians 1:7, 1 John 2:2, Romans 5:1, Acts 4:12, John 3:16, 14:6, Titus 3:5-6, 1 Corinthians 15:12-19), and only those who receive Jesus Christ as Savior are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12-13, 1 John 3:1).
  7. We believe that water baptism (Matthew 28:19-20, Colossians 2:12, Romans 6:4-5) and the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) are observances to be practiced by the church. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation (1 Peter 3:21-22).
  8. We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:4-6, 15, 5:23, 25-26, 29-30, Romans 12:5, Galatians 3:26-28, 1 Corinthians 12:13).
  9. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the church and that the local Church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs (1 Corinthians 6:1-4).
  10. We believe in the personal, premillennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, John 14:1-3, Matthew 24:37-44) and that this blessed hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the church and its members (1 John 2:28, 3:2-3, Philippians 3:20).
  11. We believe in the physical resurrection of the dead; the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord in heaven (1 Corinthians 15:20-23, 51-57, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:4-6, 21:22-22:5); the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting, conscious punishment in hell (John 5:28-30, Revelation 20:11-15).
  12. We believe that only those who are part of the church as described above shall be eligible for membership in the Lolo Community Church.
